Are schools abandoning the graded lesson observation?

At best, lesson observation is an opportunity for teachers to hone their professional skills and share best practice. At worst, lesson observations can pile on the pressure and add to teacher workload and stress.

Research from BlueSky Education has revealed that two thirds of schools (68%) have changed their lesson observation practice and more than half of schools (59%) no longer grade observations or use grades rarely.

The Quiet Uprising is a report into the changing shape of lesson observation in schools. It includes survey results from over 200 primary and secondary schools into how they carry out lesson observations and develop teachers.
