Using BlueSky to develop bespoke, collaborative professional learning that focusses everyone on school improvement
Moulton School aims to deliver personalised and collaborative professional development that has a measurable impact on school improvement priorities. However, with 85 teachers and only two training days and four after-school twilight sessions annually, this is difficult to achieve.
How is BlueSky helping?
Assistant Headteacher and CPD Leader, Angie Dabbs explains,
"Once I saw the Projects area of BlueSky, I realised this was exactly what we needed to manage our action research projects. Using the BlueSky Self-Evaluation Module, we identified project topics corresponding to the school development plan and established a framework with the focus of moving the school from good to outstanding. As soon as a new discussion thread or resource is added to a project, everyone in that project is informed.
"Using BlueSky in this way links everything together, the school’s self-evaluation, professional development and school improvement.
What is the impact?
"BlueSky has enabled us to continue to build professional capital through reflective practice, collaboration and peer-to-peer observation and I can show that every teacher has access to bespoke CPD whenever they want. What we are seeing is true collaboration across teams and departments. The programme has raised the quality of teaching, 96% of lessons are now good or better, and 31% are outstanding."
