Communication Support for Verbal Children with ASD

This programme has been developed for practitioners working with children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). It contains a wealth of practical ideas to support those who are working with verbal children with social communication difficulties aged from 4-14. This training programme has been UPDATED to reflect the changes in diagnostic criteria and includes a whole session on managing pupils with sensory conditions in the classroom. There are five, four-hour sessions giving a total of 20 hours teaching. Participants can achieve a Level 3 or Level 2 nine credit Award in Knowledge and Practice to Support the Communication skills of ASD – both levels are now on the QCF! A portfolio of evidence will need to be submitted.
It is priced at £375, to include all fees, the course book and refreshments.

- Promote effective communication and social skills through understanding pragmatic language skills and how to support development of emotional literacy
- Promote effective communication and social skills through using comic strip conversations and ‘Circle of friends’ strategy. The issue of Autism will be explored
